Hoo-Bey's First Journey

These paintings were rendered in gouache paint. They were to be for a martial arts children's book for the "Tang Soo Do" organization. The book was to show "Hoo-Bey" the Owl as he progresses through the seasons and learns the lessons the reference the meaning of the different belt colors.

White Belt

Hoo-Bey sees a pack of wolves defending themselves against a bear attack as a lesson of loyalty to the group. (Winter)

Orange Belt

A young bird wants to fly before his wings are strong enough. This teaches to listen to your parents/ elders. (Spring)

Hoo-Bey sees otters racing and notice that they take turns winning as they honor friendship. (Spring)

Hoo-Bey Owl, Skunks, & Strawberries Illustration Painting Red Belt

Hoo-Bey initially does not want to social with the skunks. The invite him to share the strawberries and Hoo-Bey learns not to judge by appearances. (Summer)
